The name of the knife is "Profili"... which in Italian, means "Profile". This name comes from Laurie DeMars’s Grandfather's (Eugene Profili) Family name from Lucca Italy. Laurie also had a hand in the design of this blade. Laurie and I both have family heritage from Italy (hers from Lucca, and mine from Milan), and that is one of the reasons we wanted to have the profili made at Fox Cutlery in Maniago…and because Fox makes great quality knives.
This knife has a stunning profile that is sure to grab the attention of any knife knut! But, there is a purpose behind this sleek design...I wanted to break some of the new rules of "tactical" folders and fixed blades by not focusing so much on stabbing into automobile doors and tires, and focus more on a practical self defense knife.
The Profili is designed to be a "Tactical Scalpel", not a “Pry-bar”. The coating on the blade and clip is Tungsten DLC and will last through the beating that most "Every Day Carry" knives will receive, and the blade steel (N690CO) and the construction of the knife are both top notch...So for the price, these knives are sure to serve the purpose intended for the design, which is a sleek, subdued, and tactical secondary line of defense...as well as a very nice fixed blade or gentleman's pocket folder.
